“Quiet on the Set” Preliminary Drawing by Bob Singer (Hanna-Barbera, 1990).
In the 1990s, Hanna-Barbera produced hand-painted limited edition cels that featured massive amounts of their characters on a cel with a universal theme. They were usually met with instant sellouts. This is the original rough artwork for a long sold-out limited edition called “Quiet on the Set.” It has a movie-making theme with fifteen classic H-B characters, featuring Fred Flintstone as the director of this Yogi and Boo-Boo picnic basket-themed shoot. The entire filming crew is made up of classic H-B characters. Graphite on 16 field animation paper, drawn by animation legend Mr. Bob Singer. Mr. Singer was responsible for starting the studio’s Character Model Department and was a leading studio character designer, layout, background, and storyboard artist. He worked at H-B for 27 years!
